Coming Up for Air
Or, how to (re)publish 30 books in 30 day…
So, I’ve taken a couple of weeks off from Substack. Did you miss me? How did I spend those weeks, you ask? Basking in the early fall beauty? Eating too much? Well, okay, but overeating is pretty much my hobby. Rest and recuperation? Recharge my batteries?
See, yeah, not so much. Back a couple of months ago, I asked for the rights back to ten of my novellas. I got them pdq, as my publisher was a true gentleman. So there I was, with these books and a bunch of older ones on my hands, publisher-less and all mine. So I decided to take some time off from writing new things every day and republish my backlist, with new covers, new formats, and generally clean out my files and slap everything up online.
Hardest of all, though, was learning how to promote. It’s always been something I’ve shied away from, being severely introverted and shy—your basic writer, in other words. But learning new skills keeps our brains alive and interested, so it was time to buckle down, put on my big-girl drawers—as my Granny used to call underwear—and learn to put my books and, by extension, myself out there. It’s an ongoing process and it’s not as fun as writing, but I’m giving it a shot. Come what may.
Anyway, I did. Or, technically, I’ve done it. And now, dear subscribers, you’re going to learn all about HOW I DID IT! All I can say is, lucky you! Or maybe not?
Consider yourself warned. And I’ll see you in a day or two. In the meantime, feast upon some of these covers. And yes, I write in lots of genres, so be afraid. Be very afraid…
